Taxpayers who are waiting for new tax season should pay attention to IRS changes in 2017.
Congress passed a new law. IRS will have to hold entire returns even the portion not associated with the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. USA goverment delayed tax refund date due to identity theft and refund fraud. Hopefully, it will help IRS to detect and prevent frauds.
IRS will not issue refund until February 15, 2017. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen informs taxpayers to be ready for changes. He says: “We want people to be aware of the change for their planning purposes during the holidays. We don’t want anyone caught by surprise if if they get their refund a few weeks later than in previous years.”.
